Having been involved in an eclectic array of transactions across the country, Eric W. Smith (E. Walter) brings almost four decades of experience in the insurance and financial services marketplace. Mr. Smith’s exposure to such a diverse marketplace has afforded him the opportunity to sit on various panels discussing financial strategies with high net worth professionals and non-profits, and consult recording artists about marketing and contract negotiations. He specializes in answering the questions, “What happens if I live too long, die too soon, or get sick along the way? How can I have a tax-free retirement and design a legacy whereby I’ll be able to “Say Goodbye with a Smile?”
Smith started his insurance career with the New York Life Insurance company in 1986. He earned membership into the NYLIC Executive Council and was featured in Black Enterprise Magazine.
In 1990 he founded The EWS Financial Group, and the firm began marketing, selling, and servicing a wide variety of financial products including individual life insurance, annuities and group health to a culturally diverse client base.
Having consulted on several large projects, Mr. Smith brings with him the credentials of having worked with groups including, The Atlanta Empowerment Zone Corporation, Workplace Learning Solutions LLC, The National Black Women’s Health Project, It’s Cool To Be Smart – Saving Our Daughters, The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG), and The National Conference of Black Mayors.
As the Managing Director for Natural Solutions International – a Self-Help Heathcare Club, Mr. Smith developed and launched the introduction of the first Complementary Medicine Employee Benefit Plan in Atlanta, Georgia. (Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Oriental Medicine)
In 2008, Smith developed “Your Life, Your Legacy, Your Masterpiece” for our country’s Seniors. This entertaining, yet educational program is best described by the Office of Senior Affairs for Dekalb County, Georgia’s Human Development Department as providing a thought provoking “road map for any Senior that wants to have the final say on how they want to be remembered.”
The “Say Goodbye with a Smile” campaign serves as the community outreach program for The EWS Financial Group. Launched in 2020, it introduces the firm’s Insurance, Wealth Building, and Legacy Planning offerings with an exciting social media presence and a catchy jingle co-written and produced by world renowned music director Wizard Jones.
